Restore Your Body Before It Becomes Used Up
Post courtesy of the Evolving Show podcast.
No matter who you are, what you do, or how successful you may be; whether you’re aware of it or not, time marches on. If you are under twenty-five, this episode is not relevant for you. (It might be relevant to someone you love – like a parent, for instance – who is significantly older than you.)
All living creatures are subject to wear and tear. The wear and tear left unattended accumulates and eventually damages your health and shortens your lifespan.
Long story short, you are like any other vehicle that requires maintenance to perform well. The funny thing is that we understand the need for car maintenance and most of us obey its schedule. Extremely few people however see the need to restore their body before it becomes used up.
I often “preach” about the need for environmental balance. The same principle of balance applies to us. We have physiological, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs that have to be met all the time. None of us can do well without water, food, sleep, information, relationships, or convictions. Shortchanging yourself on any of these needs comes with a price tag: we feel lousy.
But no, that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about periodic maintenance: the need to restore your body before it becomes used up. Some misuse the word maintenance to describe such frivolous things as a manicure, hair styling, or spa treatment. Others believe that regular physical and occasional vaccinations equal good maintenance. Not so.
The human body has a limited lifespan for a number of reasons. An unexpected death can occur due to an accident or disease. Outside of an accident, disease, or unhealthy lifestyle, our lifespan is limited by the durability and efficiency of our internal organs and systems.
The occasional vaccinations protect us from disease. The annual physical helps to prevent and detect disease. Regular wear and tear – for the purpose of the annual physical – is considered “normal”. Past the age of thirty or so, we are expected to gradually decline (age!): and little by little develop various conditions. We don’t die all at once; we keep on slowing down until we come to a stop.
As you have surely noticed, older people see their doctor more often; they see specialists; they need more and more prescriptions, and aids (such as glasses, hearing aids, canes, or wheelchairs) as time goes on. That’s because we decline over time.
The goal of periodic maintenance (restoring your body before it becomes used up) is to stave off the slowdown and – if not extend the lifespan itself – to preserve full performance for as long as possible.
None of us will live forever. Still, being alive is “being able to”. Being alive and unable – or limited – isn’t the life we want. It’s not about being twenty-five or thirty forever, but about being forty, fifty, sixty, or seventy and able to live fully.
Can it be done? Modern medicine believes in the “normal” decline, but not in the prevention of the decline. Now stop and think about people who are getting older and gradually losing more and more of the abilities they once took for granted.
What’s getting “bad”, so to speak? The main organs and systems. Think heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, brain, and so on. Believe it or not, all of them can be cleansed and restored on a regular basis. By keeping them gunk-free, you’ll improve and extend their functionality.
Does it make sense? Think of old pipes, the more clogged they become the less water is passing through them, right? When it comes to pipes, we replace them. When it comes to our own “pipes” and parts it’s wiser to cleanse and reopen them. How?
There are common foods, nutritional supplements, and herbs with therapeutic properties. All are helpful in cleansing inner organs and systems and keeping them in optimal condition. The cleansing process is safe, simple, affordable, and effective. Results defy modern medicine’s definition of age-appropriate “normal” wear and tear.
People often say they wish to live to be 100. But does such a wish include a wheelchair, hearing aid, and scheduled surgeries?
