Immune System Power Drink

As the Covid-19 virus keeps on coming at us in waves, many are focused on strengthening the immune system. There are a few nutraceuticals (foods with therapeutic properties) well-known for supporting the immune system. I highly recommend a daily immune system power drink that I myself drink faithfully every morning on empty stomach.

Not to worry, the picture is here in jest; there are no life sacrifices, spider webs, candles, or dried frogs involved. Cooking is not required, either!

The immune system power drink consists of four ingredients I trust with keeping my immune system strong, resilient and responsive. The powerful ingredients are: lemon juice, ginger, garlic and turmeric.

 

Lemon juice

supports the heart, kidneys, digestion, and has many other health benefits.

 

Ginger

protects the integrity of DNA, heart, lungs and more.

 

Garlic

fights bacteria and viruses! It also helps to regulate blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Garlic safeguards the liver, helps control diabetes and may prevent numerous types of cancer.

 

Turmeric

is an effective blood thinner and anti-inflammatory rich in antioxidants.

 

How To Prepare The Immune System Power Drink

Take a 10 oz cup and add to it:

• juice of a half a lemon

• 1 tsp of fresh, grated ginger

• 1 tsp of fresh, grated garlic

• ¼ tsp of turmeric

• a pinch of black pepper (black pepper improves the body’s absorption of turmeric)

• cover the ingredients with 1” of cold water

• fill the rest of the cup up with hot water

• stir it

• drink at your pace on empty stomach, first thing in the morning

 

The immune system power drink is most potent when prepared fresh. Unfortunately, I’m not a morning person and I’m unlikely to squeeze and grate first thing in the morning. So, I’m taking a shortcut which lowers the value of the drink a bit, but still allows me to enjoy its benefits. I squeeze and grate the ingredients for three days in advance, in the evening. I store and refrigerate each ingredient in a separate glass container. This way, the morning drink is fast and easy to prepare and enjoy even for a morning grouch like me.

NOTE: The immune system power drink is neither a cure for Covid-19 nor a substitute for a Covid vaccine, but it will go a long way in ensuring that your immune system has the strength needed during this challenging time.
